There's some belting action coming to your screens in April. Nail sport this month by getting these HUGE fixtures on in the pub.
Saturday 1 April
The Merseyside derby
Everton take on Liverpool at Goodison Park, in what is sure be a spicy 2nd outing of the season. Only 6 points separate these two, Everton will feel if they can grab the victory, they can put serious pressure on their Merseyside rivals.
Can the big man do it again? He certainly thinks so…
These two clubs have huge fan bases right across the country. You may have a pocket of fans just waiting to watch the game,
Champions league quarter finals 1st and 2nd leg
The quarter finals are back and boast some seriously tasty ties, despite the relative lack of English involvement.
Here’s your breakdown of the best games from the Champions League quarter finals:
Tuesday 11 April
Juventus vs Barcelona 19:45
It was only two years ago they met in the final of this competition, Barca proved themselves worthy winners. Since then Juventus have gone from strength to strength and they have a talisman in their little magician Paulo Dybala.
But can anyone beat Barcelona? After arguably the greatest comeback in Champions League history I wouldn’t put anything past them. Let’s just have one more look at that unbelievable night…
Wednesday 12 April
Atletico Madrid vs Leicester 19:45
Surely not, not again… Can they? Leicester produced a sensational second leg performance to beat Sevilla in the last 16. They look a completely different team after sacking the man who brought them Premier League glory just 10 months ago.
Atletico Madrid have not been in great form of late, slipping to 4th in La Liga. Antoine Griezmann, however, continues to slap home a frightful amount of goals and is showing no sign of stopping soon.
Wednesday 12 April
Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid 19:45
This mammoth matchup could quite easily have been the Champions League final had the dice fallen their way.
The result is almost too close to call with both teams first in their respective leagues and in fine fettle. One thing we can tell you, when they line up in two weeks’ time, there will be upwards of half a billion pounds worth of talent on the pitch.
The Champions League gives you a great opportunity to get a full house on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Why not put on a meal offer that gets people in the pub straight after work and keeps them right through to the final whistle?
Sunday 9 April
The Masters, Augusta final day
The Masters is a big deal. Combine the world’s best golfers with what we consider to be the world’s finest golf course and you are in for a treat.
No-one goes in as this year’s favourite, as we try to figure out who will emerge in the post-Tiger era.
What you will be treated to is incredible golf, terrible dress sense and some of the most beautiful shrubbery you’re ever likely to see.
The Masters follows a full day of Premier League football in the pub. This gives you the opportunity to pack the place from the early kick-off, right through to the final putt.
Make sure you advertise the fact you’re showing the golf, get in on social media and on chalkboards in and out of venue.
Saturday 8 April
The Grand National
It’s that time of year again; whether you pick the horse by name, form, the favourite, the long odds, gut feeling or just had it picked for you in the pools - The Grand National is here and the world’s most watched horse race will enthral the nation yet again.
An estimated 500 to 600 MILLION (yes I said ‘million’!) people watch the Grand National in over 140 countries. Despite being just 9 minutes long, this is a huge sporting opportunity not to be sniffed at.
Horses go to the gates at 5:15 but there’s plenty of build-up, and time for customers to speculate on whether a grey can win the Grand National*.
The event is on ITV, and after their excellent coverage of the Cheltenham Festival, there’s no reason not to have it on the box.
*Trivia: Yes, 3 different pearly nags have done it with The Lamb winning it twice in 1868 and ‘71.
Saturday 29 April
Anthony Joshua vs Wladimir Klitschko, World heavyweight title fight
This is undeniably the biggest fight of the year. The fighting pride of England vs ‘Dr. Steelhammer’.
Many thought this fight would never happen, but all the pieces have fallen into place and we’re just weeks away from what should be an amazing contest.
As Joshua’s reputation continues to grow this seems like Klitschko’s last shot at reclaiming glory, in a division he once ruled.
MatchPint had an incredible 170,000 searches for the last big fight between David Haye and Tony Bellew. With the excitement and expectation around the 29th April, this will be huge. It needs to be on in your pub.
Get it listed on your MatchPint profile early, and make sure you start taking bookings. Remember we can help you do this!
Have a fantastic month of sport,
