The Rugby Doesn't End This Weekend

With the Rugby World Cup final this weekend between New Zealand and Australia, all eyes are on the Southern Hemisphere as the All Blacks, Wallabies, Springboks and Argentinians continue to produce top quality rugby. With next years Six Nations looking very much like a second tier tournament right now, it's worth looking at how you can bring more of the slick hands, silky skills and ludicrous athleticism to your customers next year.

And if you have Sky, then you're in luck, because Sky Sports have won exclusive rights to air rugby from the reigning southern hemisphere, as part of a new five-year contract with SANZAR. Fixtures will include the domestic Super Rugby, ITM Cup, The National Rugby Championship and the Currie Cup. As well as England, Ireland, Wales and Scotland’s summer tours - with England going head to head against the Wallabies, down under in 2016 and the Springboks in 2018.

Given the time difference, fixtures will usually be streamed outside of typical UK viewing hours. Most matches will take place during Friday and Saturday mid-mornings - a period that up until now has hardly had us pushing customers out of the door, for fear of being too busy. So if you're showing the games, put on a decent breakfast menu, start prouring out the coffee, sit back with your customers and enjoy the action.

With any hope, your pub should be filled with avid southern hemisphere rugby supporters this weekend, many of them new to your pub and many of them looking for a regular haunt to watch the games next season. So put on a great show this weekend, and let them know that your pub is the new home of Southern Hemispherre rugby.
